Kevin K. McCormick, a lifelong resident of the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, joined Riebandt & DeWald, P.C. in 2006, concentrating in the areas of commercial litigation, corporate and business law, and intellectual property. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. McCormick was an attorney-contractor for the Global IP—Trademarks Department with Kraft Foods, focusing on domestic and international trademark clearance, prosecution, maintenance, and licensing.

Mr. McCormick earned his B.A. in History and Political Science, magna cum laude and as part of the Honors program, from Carroll College of Wisconsin, where he was a George F. Kennan History Fellow and Captain of the Men’s Soccer Team, where he led the Carroll College Pioneers to the their first postseason birth in school history. In 2005, Mr. McCormick earned his J.D., cum laude, Honors Program Scholar, with an Intellectual Property Concentration, from Valparaiso University School of Law. While on the VUSL Law Review, Mr. McCormick published Extraordinary Ability and the English Premier League: The Immigration, Adjudication, and Place of Alien Athletes in American and English Society , 39 Valparaiso Univ. L. Rev 541 (2005), and served as an associate editor from 2004-2005. Mr. McCormick also served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Michael P. Scopelitis of the St. Joseph County Superior Court in South Bend, Indiana, and a law clerk for the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C.

Mr. McCormick was admitted to practice before the Illinois Supreme Court in 2005.

Previously, Mr. McCormick has served as a bailiff for the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition, and as a Competition Judge for the We The People: Project Citizen program. Mr. McCormick has recently published “Ding” You Are Now Free to Register that Sound , 96 The Trademark Reporter 1101 (September-October 2006). He is an active member in the Illinois State, Chicago, and Lake County Bar Associations and practices in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake and McHenry Counties.
